ŠKODA’s bold Yeti compact SUV has received a facelift for 2014, and the latest generation model is now available to motorists in the UK. The model has always stood apart from its competitors with a distinctive shape and unique details, and the new incarnation carries ŠKODA’s refreshed design signature.

The new Yeti receives an updated front end, with revised headlamps projecting a more angular appearance than the previous model. The circular front fog lights found on the previous model now appear as clean rectangles integrated low down on the front bumper, although the carmaker’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille shape remains. At the tailgate, the rear lights have also undergone a redesign, and subtle folds around the number plate come from ŠKODA’s new Rapid and Octavia models.

With the new Yeti, ŠKODA hopes to appeal to a wider audience, and now offers two contrasting trim levels to suit different terrains. The off-road spec includes robust plastic cladding and underbody protection, whereas the city-friendly version offers body-coloured bumpers and sophisticated side sills. A wider selection of paint colours has been added to the range, alongside four attractive alloy wheel designs that provide both style and function.

Inside, the steering wheel has been remodelled, and a range of personalisation options also feature. A selection of upholsteries, colours and inserts is available alongside new fabrics and patterns for the seats, with a bespoke cabin finish achievable.

The engine remains unchanged, but new transmission combinations are added. The 1.6-litre front-wheel drive TDI can now be coupled with seven-speed DSG gearbox, while the 188bhp 2.0-litre TDI can be married with four-wheel drive capability and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
