Unveiled at an event in Barcelona in February, the new SEAT Ateca takes its name from the eponymous Spanish village, west of the Catalan capital.
The variety of diesel turbocharged petrol engines supplies between 113bhp and 181bhp. Fuel economy is anything from 46mpg to 66mpg, and buyers can choose between manual or dual-clutch transmission and front or all-wheel drive.
Three trim levels will be available, peaking with the XELLENCE grade. The Ateca will make full use of its 4.36-metre length by providing a 510-litre boot (or 485 litres for all-wheel drive options).
Full specifications are yet to be determined but a wide range of options have been announced. Full Link connectivity will be available, offering compatibility with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink. Wireless phone charging will be a feature too.
Also included will be LED headlamps and driver aids such as Road Sign Recognition, Lane Keeping Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Cross Traffic Alert.
SEAT’s Executive Vice President for Research and Development, Dr Matthias Rabe commented, “We have put together an amazing package of technologies and innovations for the Ateca.” He added that the vehicle would deliver “more safety and utility but, above all, the most dynamic driving experience possible.
“We will set a whole new standard within the segment with its light-footed, precise handling. It is incredibly fun to drive. And we have combined this driving experience with compelling utility, making the Ateca a hugely versatile companion for an active urban life.”
The SEAT Ateca is due in dealerships later this year. Please feel free to leave your comments below and if you would like to know more, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
