The 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed will be a celebration of the famous Mazda brand, with the Japanese manufacturer being the Central Feature Marque of the event.
In the same year that Mazda is releasing three all-new models, it will provide the perfect opportunity to embrace the ‘Challenger Spirit’ of the current range and sporting past. As the only Japanese manufacturer to win the Le Mans 24-Hour Race, Mazda sets the benchmark when it comes to sport cars, with none more iconic than the Mazda MX-5.
This year’s theme for the Goodwood Festival is ‘Flat-out and Fearless: Racing on the Edge’ and with this in mind the Le Mans winning car from 1991, the 787B Group C, will be on show alongside many other historic cars.
The UK Managing Director for Mazda, Jeremy Thomson, said: “Mazda has a long and proud heritage in racing, and through motorsport has demonstrated its engineering challenger spirit through the rotary engine, its Le Mans win and the LMP2 Skyactiv diesel prototype currently racing in the United States.
“This spirit is also encompassed by both our historical and current road cars, being the only manufacturer to perfect the rotary engine, the only manufacturer to use the Millar Cycle engine, and the manufacturer who developed the world’s smallest V6 engine.”
The Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from June 26-28, 2015 and the Central Feature will be created by Mazda alongside sculptor Gerry Judah, which will sit against the stunning backdrop of Goodwood House.
